Job summary

BMCHS in Boston is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg Float Pool on a Per Diem schedule. Float pool nurses care for medical and surgical adult populations, delivering 24/7 clinical excellence.

Responsibilities include nursing care delivery, documentation, and collaboration with the health care team. RN with BLS and ACLS completed during orientation is preferred; PCC certification within 1 year; flexible, dynamic schedule.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• 1+ years of RN experience
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) completed during orientation.
• PCC Certification required within 1 year of hire which is offered by the hospital.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
