Job summary

Maine Veterans’ Homes is seeking a dependable Per Diem Maintenance Worker to help keep our facility safe, comfortable, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.

The role involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, with a flexible as-needed schedule. This is a per diem position; weekend coverage may be required occasionally, and Tapcheck is offered as a pay option.

We value reliability and hands-on problem solving in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of maintenance experience required.
• Experience with basic carpentry, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, groundskeeping and custodial tasks.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform routine repairs safely.
• Healthcare or long-term care experience is helpful.
• Valid State of Maine driver's license.
• Dependable, flexible and able to respond to maintenance needs across the facility.
• Able to work a flexible, as-needed schedule and provide coverage for vacations and days off.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs across the facility and grounds to keep areas safe and functional.
• Address routine maintenance requests and unexpected repairs as needed.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and safety checks.
• Provide coverage for vacations and staff days off as needed.
