Job summary

The State of Idaho Tax Commission in Lewiston is seeking a temporary part-time Technical Records Specialist 1 to join a great team with flexible hours. This role offers hands-on experience in clerical tax administration and a chance to learn in a government setting without benefits.

You will gather information, resolve problems, and access various information sources while applying regulations and procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of experience in monitoring records systems, identifying problems and correcting errors
• At least 6 months of experience researching a variety of sources to solve problems
• At least 6 months of experience interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, and/or program knowledge to carry out assignments
• At least 6 months of experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system.

Responsibilities

• Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
• Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments.
• Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information.
• Perform specialized support work that involves an extensive in-depth knowledge of the program.
• Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, paymentsand/or documents.
• Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedures.
• Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external.
• Access, maintain and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports.
• May make and receive phone calls to and from delinquent taxpayers.
