Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Oncology Unit on a flexible time, night shift (12-hour) with 7PM–7AM hours. The unit provides inpatient care for medical and surgical oncology patients and seeks compassionate PCTs to support the nursing team with chemo and hospice patients.

Responsibilities include vital signs, daily living activities support, phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, and documentation under RN direction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required and one of the listed credentials.
• Current BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Take vital signs, aid mobility and ambulation, and perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Assist with EKG testing, IV removal, and catheter procedures under RN supervision.
• Document observations accurately and report changes promptly.

US Navy Hospital Corps School
