Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician for the Oncology Unit to support nursing staff during night shifts. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKGs, IV removal, and specimen collection under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification within 90 days of hire, and healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; relevant certification/experience as listed.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing.
• Conduct EKG testing and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal as directed.
