Job summary

The Aquatics Coordinator at YMCA of South Hampton Roads will provide supervision and instruction to members and staff in the aquatics department, ensuring a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience. Leadership and continuous follow-through are required to excel in this role.

Key duties include supervising the pool deck, training and scheduling staff, responding to emergencies, and maintaining strong relationships with members and other staff. Flexibility for varied hours is expected.

Qualifications

• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications current.
• YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding certifications current (instructor preferred).
• YMCA Swim Instructor Certification or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor

Responsibilities

• Supervise pool deck, entrances, and high-risk areas.
• Assist in training and scheduling staff.
• Respond to emergencies per YMCA procedures and report.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
• Answer member questions and provide assistance.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Adhere to YMCA policies and health/safety rules.
• Monitor pool operations to comply with regulations.
• Conduct lifeguarding and swim instruction.
