Job summary

YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to lead and support high-quality water-based programs. You will spend most of your time in direct service, ensuring safe, welcoming experiences for members and participants while supervising shifts and guiding staff development.

You will recruit, onboard, train, coach, and evaluate aquatics team members, maintain program quality, and uphold safety standards. This is a hands-on leadership role with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of related aquatics experience.
• Ability to obtain Certified Trainer status in Lifeguarding/Swim Instruction within the designated timeframe.
• Ability to respond effectively to safety and emergency situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with a team.
• Proficiency with Office 365 and ability to learn YMCA systems.
• Ability to engage and build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct aquatic program support and supervision.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and coaching of aquatics staff.
• Support scheduling, payroll, and administrative tasks.
• Maintain high standards for safety, participant satisfaction, and program quality.
• Respond to member questions and safety concerns promptly.
• Promote YMCA mission and inclusive environment.
• Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response as needed.
