The Aquatics Coordinator will provide supervision and instruction to members and staff in the aquatics department by listening actively, strengthening relationships and ensuring a safe, fun and enjoyable aquatic experience for members and program participants. The coordinator must have leadership and continuous follow through.
This position operates in an aquatic and YMCA center environment and may involve regular exposure to indoor and outdoor pools, water, humidity, varying temperatures, noise, and pool-related chemicals. Work may require extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, or being in and around the water, as well as regular interaction with members, participants, families, team members, and other stakeholders. Flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays, may be required based on program and operational needs.
The employee must maintain the physical and mental readiness necessary to safely perform the essential functions of the position and any duties associated with required certifications. Depending on the role, this may include entering and exiting the water, swimming, demonstrating aquatic skills, responding to emergencies, performing rescues or emergency care, and moving or positioning equipment or individuals as necessary.

Wage Range: $15.50 - $18.00 hourly
The wage range provided reflects the YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ good-faith determination of the minimum and maximum starting salary for this position.
