Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Burnsville, MN seeks an experienced Health Unit Coordinator to support our Skilled Nursing Facility-Ebenezer Ridges Care Center. This clerical/receptionist role assists nursing units and staff, ensuring smooth internal and external communication flow.

The position offers casual hours with a flexible schedule, a minimum of 3 shifts per month including one weekend, and a competitive benefits package including PTO, retirement monies, medical/dental coverage, wellness

Qualifications

• 1 year customer service experience
• Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or similar Medical Secretary certificate
• High School or GED completion
• Electronic Health Care software knowledge
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• 1 year of related work experience in a health-care-or Senior living/care setting
• Experience working in a customer service role
• Familiar with Medical Terminology or coursework completed
• Ability to use a high level of professionalism and must have a problem solving aptitude
• TCU experience

Responsibilities

• Notifies Physician/Advance Practice Staff of visits, appointments and coordinates with resident representative
• Coordinates transportation, complete referrals for appointments, and orders labs/x-rays
• Assists in maintaining resident roosters and staffing assignment sheets
• Assemble and maintains resident charts for admission, discharge and hospital return
• Keeps all forms accessible and current, with filing and faxing as needed
• Transcribe Physician orders per facility policy
• Participates in audits and surveys
• Answers phones in a timely and professional manner
• Using preferred vendors maintains levels of supplies for nursing floor.
