Job summary

Fairview Range in Hibbing, MN is seeking a Unit Assistant for the Acute Care med/surgery unit to support patient care under RN supervision and ensure timely documentation in the EHR. The UA will assist with activities of daily living, patient comfort, and coordination of care in a 28-bed unit.

The role requires 18+ years of age and current BLS/BCS certification; preferred CNA and prior nursing assistant experience, plus a high school diploma or nursing aide program.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Current BLS certification or attends BLS class within 3 months of employment and maintains certification.
• Current BCS or acquires within three months of employment and maintains certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the plan of care under RN direction, including activities of daily living.
• Answer telephone and relay messages promptly and thoroughly.
• Record patient data accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Job Overview

Fairview Range is looking for a dedicated Unit Assistant (UA) to join our Acute Care unit in our med surgery department in Hibbing, MN.

Schedule

This position will work 48-60 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 12-hour rotating day/night shift. Weekends: Every third weekend.

About this unit

This unit treats medical, surgical, and pediatric patients. Remodeled in 2015, our unit includes 28 single patient rooms and an adjacent 4-bed ICU. As an integral part of our care team, the UA completes patient-centered care by meeting both the psychological and physical needs of the patients and ensures efficient care and service in accordance with providers orders, The Joint Commission, nursing, and departmental guidelines.

• Multidisciplinary care team including Board Certified/Eligible Hospitalists and sophisticated practice providers, RNs, LPNs, Unit Assistants, Social Workers, RN Case Managers

Responsibilities

• Assisting in implementation of the plan of care under the direction of an RN. This will include, but not limited to, activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, bathing, and oral cares, eating and drinking.
• Answering telephone; relaying messages promptly and thoroughly.
• Recording acquired patient data in EHR.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Current BLS certification or attends BLS class within 3 months of employment and maintains certification. Current BCS or acquires within three months of employment and maintains certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of recent work experience as a nursing assistant.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from a nursing aide program
• CNA
• Knowledge of computers and word processing
