Job summary

KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools (KPPS) is seeking an Elementary Building Substitute to provide flexible classroom coverage and lead instruction when needed. This one-year, grant-funded role supports the school’s operations and student learning across multiple classrooms.

Daily hours are 8:00–4:30. The position offers opportunities for growth, with potential advancement to permanent lead teaching roles within KPPS as noted by past substitutes.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in educational settings required.
• Background checks required: PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, Cogent Federal Fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a flexible substitute teacher providing short-term coverage for lead teachers across the building.
• Provide high-quality instructional support in whole group and small group settings.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch and recess and supervise students.
• Participate in staff meetings, coaching and professional development opportunities.
• Perform clerical duties related to attendance reports and student records.
