Job summary

JCYC Upward Bound seeks a High School STEM Tutor to support students at SFUSD sites, focusing on math, science, and English. The role collaborates with Educational Advisors to guide student growth and track progress in a nurturing learning environment.

The position is casual, in-person, September 1, 2026 to May 21, 2027, 2-4 days per week. Compensation is $23.50–$25.00 per hour, DOE, with a lunch break and sick pay included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or current undergraduate student pursuing a degree
• Experience tutoring or working with youth from diverse backgrounds
• Strong math content knowledge including Algebra I to Calculus and physics
• Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin and/or Cantonese is highly valued

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually and in small groups to complete assignments and develop study skills
• Coordinate with Educational Advisors to assess academic needs and track progress
• Communicate effectively with students and high school staff from diverse backgrounds
• Support efforts to foster a college-going mindset among students
• Be punctual, organized, and flexible
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by Educational Advisors or Associate Director
