Job summary

LEARN is seeking Substitute Youth Leaders to support after-school programs across its sites in California. You’ll work with groups of about 20 students in academic, physical activity, and enrichment activities, under a Site Coordinator’s direction.

The role is flexible, with regular placements based on availability, and may include weekends. This part-time, non-benefited position requires a High School diploma, ability to travel within the region, and commitment to keeping students safe while

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School
• Passing score on the district examination for Instructional Assistants (during interviewing)

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of about 20 students in academic, physical activity, or enrichment activities
• Ensure supervision and safety of students during program hours
• Provide instruction using program materials
• Provide small-group tutoring and homework assistance
• Model positive behavior and professionalism for students
• Arrive on time to meet on-site responsibilities
• Engage youth by following lesson plans and activities
• Assist in set up, break down, and site maintenance
• Promote positive interactions and follow child safety guidelines
• Communicate student needs to Site Coordinator, teachers, and parents as appropriate
• Check students in/out on attendance roster and monitor snacks
• Other duties as assigned
