Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Immediate Care Technician for the McHenry clinic. This casual role supports physicians and APPs by facilitating patient flow and assisting with procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Within six months, complete one of CMA/EMT/NCMA/NRCMA/etc. certifications or equivalent.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to exam room, identify patient with two identifiers and prepare for examination.
• Obtain accurate vital signs per organization standards.
• Document reason for visit and update allergies, smoking history and pharmacy information.
• Inform MD/APP of significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms.
• Anticipate/set up equipment or supplies for visits; clean and prepare exam rooms.
• Assist with referrals, transfers and discharge processes.
• Assist MD/APP with procedures: ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, CLIA-waived testing, wound care, splinting.
• Call in or electronically send prescriptions as directed by MD/APP.
