Job summary

The City of Surprise, AZ is seeking a skilled automotive technician to perform journey-level repairs and maintenance on a wide range of vehicles and equipment. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance across light and heavy-duty fleets.

Swing shift is 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, with training and supervision of junior technicians as needed. A CDL and EPA 609 certification are required or obtained within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years journey-level experience in repair/maintenance of light/heavy-duty vehicles, OR two years plus accredited automotive or diesel training; additional education cannot substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level repairs and maintenance on a wide variety of automotive, small equipment, and heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Assist Fleet Technicians III with fire pumpers and special apparatus equipment; mentor Fleet Technicians I on solid waste vehicles, construction equipment, bucket trucks, and other heavy-duty applications.
