Job summary

City of Glendale AZ is seeking a Fleet Technician for the Heavy Equipment Assignment in Glendale, AZ. This role focuses on repairs and routine maintenance of heavy and light equipment, including trucks and fire apparatus, with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.

The position operates on a second shift (2:30pm-11:00pm) and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates should bring strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, plus ASE certifications to support fleet operations.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience as a skilled equipment mechanic in a field of equipment repairs such as automotive repair, diesel repair, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, or industrial equipment.
• Minimum of two (2) current ASE certifications.
• Completion of an accredited automotive or diesel training program at a trade school or college may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain light- to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
• Troubleshoot using scan tools and manuals to diagnose issues.
• Mentor other fleet technicians and document repairs.
• Order parts and manage inventory logs.
• Perform emergency service calls and ensure safety during operations.
