Job summary

American Electric Power in Columbus, NE seeks a Fleet Technician to diagnose and repair diesel and hydraulic systems on company vehicles and heavy equipment. The role covers various subsystems, from boom assemblies to braking and fuel systems, with an emphasis on safety, record-keeping, and teamwork.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of automotive diagnosis experience, plus CDL and ASE-type certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
• Graduation from automotive trade school with diesel engine experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies and hydraulics, including troubleshooting and component replacement.
• Service and repair heating/ventilation, air conditioning, steering, braking, fuel and exhaust systems.
• Inspect and repair differentials, transmissions, and powertrain components.
• Maintain records and submit reports; assist training and supervise others.
