Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Fleet Technician responsible for the comprehensive maintenance and repair of sedans, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment used in company operations. Duties cover hydraulic, diesel, braking, steering, A/C, and fuel systems, with emphasis on diagnostics and safe operation of equipment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of automotive diagnosis experience, and CDL readiness within a year.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
• Diesel engine experience from automotive trade school highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies and related components, inspect and replace wear parts.
• Service and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and accumulators.
• Service and repair heating and ventilation systems, A/C diagnostics and compressor replacement.
• Inspect and repair steering, air brake, and braking systems.
• Inspect differentials, transmissions, clutches and power dividers.
