Job summary

City of Corvallis is seeking a full-time Fleet Technician to protect and maintain the City’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and modify a range of engines and machinery, and work with vendors to source parts and outside repairs.

The role requires a high school diploma, several years of fleet repair experience, and the ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools. ASE Master Technician certifications are desirable. Oregon CDL considerations may apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of formal education and/or vocational training in automotive, industrial or heavy equipment technology.
  • Five years job related work experience in automotive, construction equipment and/or heavy equipment repair, including experience in a fleet environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, maintains, repairs, and/or modifies a diverse range of vehicles, engines, and light, medium and heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and retrieves codes to determine repairs using Genisys OTC or equivalent diagnostic tools.
  • Estimates job costs and resource requirements for vehicle or equipment maintenance and repairs. Prepares material specifications and cost estimates.
  • Schedules services and repairs using the computerized preventative maintenance program and garage operations calendar.
  • Uses the internet to order parts and update inventory and vehicle records.
  • Designs and fabricates custom parts and tools for service trucks and equipment.
  • Responds to emergency calls for road repair and after-hours work as needed.
  • Maintains service and repair records and reports and assists in long/short range planning.
