Job summary

Protech Automotive Solutions is seeking an Automotive Installation Technician to join our growing team in Tampa, FL. This hands-on role involves installing and supporting GPS, telematics, cameras, sensors, and other fleet technology across vehicles and trailers.

You’ll work on light-duty vehicles to heavy equipment, performing wiring, testing, and diagnostics while traveling to customer sites for mobile installations. A customer-focused mindset and safety-first approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work around vehicles and trailers.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, and trailers.
• Perform 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostics, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
