Job summary

Protech Automotive Solutions is seeking an Automotive Installation Technician to join our growing team. This hands-on role focuses on installing GPS, telematics, cameras, sensors, and other fleet technology across vehicles and trailers.

Ideal candidates have automotive, electrical, or installation background and a willingness to learn new technology. We offer a path to learn, grow, and develop in a high-tech fleet environment with ample safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around vehicles and trailers.
• 21+ years of age
• Telematics installation experience.
• Experience with telematics platforms (Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx).
• 12V/24V electrical experience.
• Commercial truck or trailer experience.
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience.
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
