Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant with our direct client, an on demand autonomous ride-hauling company in Los Angeles, CA

Position Type: Contract, 6-12 months, likely extension

Onsite: Mon - Fri 30-40 hours weekly

Pay Rate: $82.09 per hour

Job Description

• The Fleet Support Engineer will serve as a technical expert and primary point of contact for real time escalations involving sensor and vehicle systems. This role will diagnose complex hardware and software issues, perform root cause analysis, develop troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures, support sensor hardware bring up and validation, and collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement solutions that improve fleet reliability.
• The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and analytical engineer with experience diagnosing complex vehicle systems and perception sensors. The candidate must be comfortable interpreting vehicle data, electrical schematics, connector pinouts, and system architecture while providing real time technical support in a fast paced operational environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for real time escalations involving sensor related fleet issues.
• Conduct detailed root cause analysis through comprehensive vehicle and system log reviews to identify and resolve fleet issues.
• Develop, update, and maintain troubleshooting guides for Vehicle Technicians, incorporating newly diagnosed faults and resolutions.
• Perform hardware bring up and validation procedures for new sensor components, including LiDAR, radar, cameras, and related systems.
• Design and implement diagnostic procedures to streamline troubleshooting, with emphasis on sensor calibration and data integrity.
• Review historical vehicle, fleet, and sensor data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering design teams to improve diagnostic tooling and issue detection capabilities.
• Develop and implement fleet wide countermeasures to prevent recurring issues.
• Define and capture essential data points to validate issue resolution and measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
• Collaborate cross functionally with Vehicle Development, Component Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Operations, and Vehicle Technicians to improve vehicle performance, reliability, and uptime.
• Provide real time and remote technical support for vehicle troubleshooting as needed.
• Document technical findings, troubleshooting processes, resolutions, and recommended improvements.
• Provide onsite technical support at operational locations and travel occasionally within the United States as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, autonomous vehicles, or a related technical environment, with specific experience involving perception systems and sensors.
• Experience with complex vehicle systems, sensor diagnostics, and hardware and software system architecture.
• Experience with low voltage and high voltage electrical circuits and safe troubleshooting practices.
• Knowledge of Unified Diagnostic Services, UDS, and vehicle diagnostic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector end views, and pinouts.
• Strong understanding of hardware and software communications in an operational environment.
• Ability to analyze vehicle data and logs and apply a holistic problem solving approach to identify high level vehicle issues and isolate root causes to individual components.
• Experience collaborating across engineering and operations teams and building strong relationships with cross functional stakeholders.
• Self starter with strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to provide effective technical support in a real time operational environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with electric vehicle technology.
• Experience remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostic tools.
• Experience with Linux and Python based programming systems for fleet level data processing.
• Experience working with software that interfaces directly with hardware.
• Familiarity with computer networking, TCP, and socket programming.
• Experience with LiDAR, radar, cameras, or other automotive perception sensors.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional travel within the United States may be required to provide onsite technical support at operational locations.
• Overtime may be required based on operational needs, with advance notice provided when possible.
