Job summary

HireArt is seeking a Fleet Support Engineer in Los Angeles to provide technical support for sensor-related fleet issues, diagnose problems across hardware and software, and help improve vehicle uptime, performance, and reliability.

You’ll read schematics, perform root cause analysis, develop troubleshooting procedures, and collaborate with engineering and operations teams. Occasional travel within the U.S. for onsite support is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in transportation, aerospace, autonomous vehicles, or related field with focus on perception systems and sensors.
• Experience with hardware and software system architectures and communications in operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for real-time escalations involving sensor-related fleet issues.
• Conduct in-depth root cause analysis through log reviews to identify and resolve fleet issues.
• Develop, update, and maintain troubleshooting guides for technicians with newly diagnosed faults and resolutions.
• Perform hardware bring-up and validation for new sensor components (LiDAR, radar, cameras).
• Develop and implement diagnostic procedures focused on sensor calibration and data integrity.
• Review historical vehicle and fleet data, including sensor data, to identify trends and recurring issues.
• Collaborate with engineering design teams to enhance tooling and improve issue detection capabilities.
• Develop and implement countermeasures across the fleet to prevent recurring issues.
• Define and capture essential data points to validate issue resolution and measure effectiveness.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvements in vehicle performance and reliability.
• Travel occasionally within the U.S. for onsite technical support at locations.

Job description

Expected compensation: 82.09 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Fleet Support Engineer to provide technical support for sensor-related fleet issues and help improve vehicle uptime, performance, and reliability.

In this role, you’ll be actively engaged in maintaining the operational uptime of the fleet, serving as a technical expert for complex sensor-related issues. You’ll diagnose problems across hardware and software systems, develop troubleshooting procedures, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement solutions that improve fleet reliability.

The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and analytical engineer with experience diagnosing complex vehicle systems and perception sensors. You’re comfortable performing root cause analysis, interpreting vehicle data and electrical schematics, and providing real-time technical support while collaborating across engineering and operations teams.

As a Fleet Support Engineer, You'll

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, autonomous vehicles, or a related field, with a focus on perception systems and sensors
• Experience with low- and high-voltage circuits and Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), including safe troubleshooting practices
• Strong understanding of hardware and software system architecture and communications within an operational environment
• Ability to take a holistic approach to diagnosing high-level vehicle functionality and isolate issues to individual components
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, connector end views, and pinouts
• Strong initiative and ability to build effective cross-functional relationships
• Ability to work overtime as needed with advance notice
• Ability to travel occasionally within the U.S. to support operational locations
• Ability to successfully complete a background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electric vehicle technology
• Experience remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
• Knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostic tools
• Experience with Linux and Python-based systems for fleet-level data processing
• Experience with software that interfaces with hardware
• Familiarity with networking, TCP, and socket programming
