Job summary

Ruan Transportation Management is seeking a transportation coordinator to independently coordinate and schedule a fleet of drivers per customer requests while complying with company rules and DOT regulations. This role maximizes operational performance and customer satisfaction through close communication with customers and drivers.

You will coach drivers on safety and productivity, plan daily workloads, and resolve scheduling issues to ensure optimal fleet utilization.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Transportation or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in Transportation or similar industry role.
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations strongly desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of dispatch systems is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and counsel drivers in safety, performance, productivity and morale; supervise all activities of drivers.
  • Direct and schedule driver work; plan and distribute daily work while coordinating loads, equipment and backhauls.
  • Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower and other resources to ensure effective operation.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors and other locations.
  • Perform payroll, billing, driver counseling and post-accident reviews.
  • Participate in review and analysis of operating performance.
  • Use transportation management systems to capture operational data in near real-time.
  • Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and regulations.

Job description

Independently coordinates and schedules a fleet of drivers according to customer requests in compliance with company rules and DOT regulations to maximize operational performance and customer satisfaction. Supervises activities of drivers and maintains daily communication with the customer on areas impacting operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to coach and counsel drivers in such areas as safety, performance, productivity and morale. Supervise all activities of drivers.
  • Direct and schedule driver's work. Plan, assign, and distribute daily work while coordinating loads, equipment and backhauls to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet.
  • Manage work assignments. Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower and other resources to ensure an effective, efficient operation. Organize, plan and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers that utilize the best cost option to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors and other Ruan locations.
  • Perform administrative functions to include payroll, billing, driver counseling and post-accident reviews.
  • Participate in the review and analysis of operating performance.
  • Properly use the Ruan transportation management systems to ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a near real-time manner.
  • Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations in all areas of the operation.
Requirements
