Fleet & School Bus Mechanic — CDL B + ASE Preferred

Job summary

Cleveland Public Schools is seeking an innovative and qualified mechanic to join our team as the district level mechanic. You will maintain and repair the district’s fleet, including large diesel engines and school buses, and keep detailed maintenance records.

Applicants must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with P and S endorsements, experience with heavy trucks, diesel mechanics and electrical systems, and the willingness to drive buses on routes when needed.

Qualifications

• Must have, or be able to obtain a Class B CDL, with P and S endorsements
• Experience in Heavy Truck, Diesel Mechanics, and Electrical Components
• ASE Certifications aligned with School Bus, Diesel, Heavy Truck preferred
• Able to navigate Google Suite Applications, 2 way radio technology, and GPS devices
• Willing to fill in with maintenance team on campus projects and occasional bus route driving

Responsibilities

• Daily fleet maintenance and inspection to prepare for routes and general purpose
• Performs maintenance of all district equipment and repairs from large diesel to small engines
• Repair and adjust fuel, ignition, electrical and cooling systems
• Perform electrical work on motorized vehicles and equipment
• Keeps detailed records of all repairs and routine maintenance of the District's fleet
• Responsible for monitoring the fuel tanks
• Willing to work with maintenance team on campus projects when time allows
• Extra pay for bus route driving and part-time driving is expected
