Job summary

Cleveland Public Schools is seeking an innovative and qualified district level mechanic to join our transportation team. Daily fleet maintenance, inspections, and repairs across diesel and gas engines, electrical systems, and fuel and cooling components are expected to keep routes on schedule.

The role requires a class B CDL with P and S endorsements or ability to obtain them, with heavy truck and diesel experience. ASE certifications are preferred; extra pay for bus route driving may apply.

Qualifications

• Must have, or be able to obtain a class B CDL with P and S endorsements.
• Experience in heavy trucks, diesel mechanics and electrical components.

Responsibilities

• Daily fleet maintenance and inspection to prepare for routes and general purpose.
• Maintain and repair district equipment from large diesel to small engine repairs.
• Repair and adjust fuel, ignition, electrical and cooling systems.
• Perform electrical work on motorized vehicles and equipment.
• Keep detailed records of all repairs and routine maintenance of the district fleet.
• Monitor fuel tanks and supervise related fuel systems.
