Job summary

BROKEN ARROW PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a Mechanic I in the Transportation Department. The role requires a High School diploma or GED, and ASE School Bus Certification or Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certification, with a Heavy diesel degree preferred.

A State school bus inspector certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Candidates should have at least 2 years of bus or medium/light duty truck repair experience, with CDL Class B endorsments.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • ASE School Bus Certification or Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certification required.
  • Heavy diesel degree or certificate preferred.
  • State school bus inspector certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Broken Arrow Public Schools policies and Transportation rules.
  • Drives a school bus route based on operational need.
  • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical problems and maintains diesel/gasoline vehicles.
  • Lays out and fabricates parts and performs general maintenance as needed.
  • Performs ten hours of continuing education every two years.
