Job summary

Avon Public School is seeking a qualified Mechanic to maintain the district's white fleet and school buses, ensuring vehicles stay in excellent working condition through repair and preventative maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, five years of mechanic/technician experience, and the ability to perform major and minor repairs. A CDL Class B license and a clean driving record are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years experience as a Mechanic/Technician in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Ability to perform minor and major vehicle repairs.
• Ability to use power tools, hand tools, electronic testing instruments, and hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Performs light maintenance and repair to diesel engines, gasoline engines and related systems including grounds equipment.
• Maintains drive lines including transmissions, suspensions, steering components and differentials.
• Maintains air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Keeps shop equipment and bus shop facility clean and maintained.
• Troubleshoots electrical components and repairs, including golf cart maintenance and repairs.
• Performs preventative maintenance on bus and white fleet.
• Maintains online work order system and provides office support.
• Responds to off-site bus emergencies, including off-hours.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
