Job summary

Rural King Farm and Home Store in Ohio is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to direct and coordinate drivers within our private fleet, planning daily runs from Distribution Centers and external freight to ensure on-time, safe, and cost-efficient deliveries.

You will schedule deliveries, communicate plans to drivers and stores, arrange returns pickups, coordinate with management on issues, pursue cost-effective hauls, provide service to stores, and ensure DOT compliance while monitoring driver

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate drivers by managing the day-to-day operations of our private fleet.
• Plan freight from our Distribution Centers and outside freight by creating a daily run list.
• Ensure freight is delivered timely, efficiently, safely and at the most cost-effective way possible.
• Efficient and cost-effective scheduling of deliveries and routing of Rural King trucks
• Communicate daily plan clearly to the driver team as well as our stores and other customers
• Schedule pickups of returned materials from the stores
• Coordinate with the Transportation Manager any driver issues to create a plan for load recovery
• Seek outside line hauls from vendors or carriers to eliminate driving with empty miles and to build on the profitability of Rural King Transportation
• Provide customer service and satisfaction to our stores
• Ensure that all DOT regulations are followed
• Monitor driver performance and discipline
