Job summary

The City of Naperville, Illinois is seeking a Parts Technician for the Public Works Fleet Division to order and distribute repair parts and materials and to maintain inventory records in the fleet system.

The role requires forklift certification, Illinois UST certifications (A/B/C), and ASE P2 certification within six months, along with a high school diploma and 1–3 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years in inventory control or fleet maintenance.
• Forklift certification required.
• Illinois Underground Storage Tank certifications (A/B/C) required.
• ASE P2 certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Locate and order shop supplies, parts for trucks and automotive repairs.
• Contact vendors and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Check receiving invoices and packing slips for discrepancies.
• Maintain orderly storage of parts and supplies.
• Input data into the fleet inventory system.
• Run inventory reports and conduct annual and periodic counts.
• Picks up and delivers auto parts and equipment from suppliers.
• Back up Senior Parts Technician for underground fuel supplies and storage tanks.
• Respond to underground storage tank alarms and maintenance issues.
• Demonstrate teamwork, growth, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
