Job summary

The City of Naples seeks a skilled automotive technician for fleet maintenance and repair of city vehicles and emergency equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, and repair or replace parts to keep fire trucks, police vehicles, and support equipment operational.

Requirements include high school diploma or GED with Vocational/Technical automotive certification, two years of progressive repair experience, and relevant ASE and CDL

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and Vocational/Technical Certification in Automotive Repair or related field.
• Two (2) years progressively skilled experience in service and repair of automotive vehicles and equipment; or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class B CDL and driving record meeting City standards.
• Requires ASE Master Automobile/Truck Technician and refrigerant certifications; EVT and Fire Apparatus certs may be required.
• When assigned to fire vehicle repair, Master Level III Fire Apparatus Technician certification; EVT certified.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and overhauls on fleet vehicles and equipment (fire trucks, police vehicles, etc.).
• Diagnose and repair electrical/electronic control systems, cooling, transmissions, and fuel systems.
• Overhaul and service assemblies such as rear axles and hydraulic systems.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure quality before release.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform roadside repairs as needed; coordinate parts/towing.
• Fabricate parts and perform welding for body components and accessories.
