Job summary

The City of Naperville is seeking a Parts Technician to order and distribute repair parts, materials, and supplies for the Fleet Division. You will manage inventory in the fleet system, verify deliveries, and assist with parts distribution for off-road and heavy-duty vehicles.

Required are a high school diploma, 1–3 years in inventory control or related automotive field, forklift and Illinois UST certifications, and a valid IL driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, fleet maintenance operations, or related automotive field.
• Equivalent education and experience may be substituted.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Illinois Class A/B/C Underground Storage Tank certifications are required.
• ASE Automobile Parts Specialist (P2) certification within six months.
• A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Locate and order shop supplies and parts for trucks and fleet services.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and input data into the fleet system.
• Check invoices and packing slips for discrepancies.
• PICK/PACK and deliver auto parts and equipment from suppliers.
• Conduct annual and periodic physical inventories and generate basic reports.
• Provide backup support to Senior Parts Technician for fuel oversight and storage tank alarms.
• Maintain safe, organized storage and promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
