Job summary

City of Sarasota seeks a seasoned Fleet Supervisor to lead Fleet Services, supervise a team, and ensure reliable maintenance for municipal vehicles and equipment. You will plan budgets, coordinate preventive programs, and drive efficient Fleet operations across departments.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, with a focus on safety, records accuracy, and timely reporting to department heads. This position is based in Sarasota.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Eight years' journeywork experience as a mechanic, with three years in supervision.
• Certification as Fleet Equipment Manager by APWA/NAFA/AEMP or must obtain within one year.
• Valid Florida CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Manages the overall operation of the City's Fleet Services vehicles and equipment.
• Establishes and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
• Plans, directs, and supervises subordinate personnel.
• Develops subordinates by providing training and career development discussions.
• Maintains records of maintenance activities and labor reports.
