Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking an entry‑level Mechanic 1 in Ohio to perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on trailers and fleet vehicles. You will work under Mechanic 2/3 and Fleet Managers to develop core competencies in fleet maintenance.

The role requires high school completion, a valid driver's license, and a basic toolset. Prior experience in vehicle maintenance is preferred and some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have personal basic tool set to perform preventative maintenance.
• Experience with diesel and gasoline engine operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on fleet vehicles and plant equipment.
• Review vehicle inspection reports and assist with diagnostics.
• Inspect and replace belts, hoses, batteries, and lights.
• Document work performed and parts used in logs or systems.
• Support senior mechanics with more complex repairs and travel as needed.
