Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled automotive mechanic for the Regional Transit System Maintenance to repair and maintain buses and transit equipment.

Responsibilities include diagnosing diesel and gasoline engines, electrical and transmission systems, and brake components, plus wheel chair lift systems. A CDL class B with passenger endorsement is required within one month, ASE certification in bus or heavy truck repair is highly desired.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent, plus technical courses and three years' experience repairing motor vehicles and/or equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on automobiles, light trucks, buses and transit equipment.
• Repairs diesel and gasoline engines.
• Diagnoses and repairs bus transmission electronic control systems.
• Repairs wheelchair lift systems and hydraulic components.
• Performs brake system diagnostics and relines, and related components.
• Diagnoses automotive electrical systems and on-board computer systems.
