City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled automotive mechanic for the Regional Transit System (RTS) Maintenance team. This role repairs and maintains transit vehicles and equipment under supervision, emphasizing technical proficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities include diagnosing diesel/gas engines, brake systems, electrical systems, and on-board computer diagnostics, ensuring safety and performance of RTS assets. A CDL-B license and ASE certification are highly desired.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with technical courses and 3 years' vehicle repair experience.
• CDL-B license with passenger transport endorsement within one month of employment.
• ASE certification in bus or heavy truck repair highly desired.
• Knowledge of automotive electrical systems and on-board computer systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with internal and external customers.

Responsabilités

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on automobiles, light trucks, buses and transit equipment.
• Repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Diagnose and repair transmission electronic control systems.
• Repair wheelchair lift systems and restraints.
• Perform brake tests and parts replacement.
• Repair automotive electrical systems.
• On-board diagnostics and computer systems.
• Maintain fare collection equipment.
• Attend work on a continuous and regular basis.
