Job summary

Lake County Transit Management, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic A or B to maintain the fleet of buses and meet safety and DOT compliance. The role requires a high school diploma and Vehicle Maintenance experience, with a CDL preferred.

A sign-on bonus of $1,500 is paid over 6 months to 1 year, with a pay rate of $23.43 per hour for a permanent, full-time position. Join a team dedicated to safe, reliable transit services.

Qualifications

• Must have Vehicle Maintenance experience to be considered.
• Must be able to read, write and do basic math; understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of fuels, lubricants, vehicle safety procedures, and cleaning materials.
• Ability to diagnose electrical, powertrain, suspension, and mechanical systems.
• Experience assisting in removal/repair of brakes, alternators, fuel pumps, pipes, and doors.
• Follow instructions and complete the work in a timely manner; work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of operating principles of internal combustion engines, accessories, powertrains and chassis components to Lake County Transit Management vehicles.
• Assists in servicing, lubricating, removing, and replacing components and assemblies related to fuel, cooling, exhaust, and suspension.
• Performs corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and/or components.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service to ensure the safety and maintenance of the fleet.
• Completes all maintenance forms and records.
• Emnoloys test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment during troubleshooting procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Mechanic A & B responsibilities and Specific Duties

·Applies knowledge of operating principles of internal combustion engines, accessories, powertrains and chassis components and sub- systems to all Lake CountyTransit Management, Inc. vehicles.

·Assists in servicing, lubricating, removing, and replacing components and assemblies relatedto fuel, cooling, exhaust,engine performance, drivetrain, hydraulic, and suspension systems.

·Performs corrective maintenance on selected mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and/or components.

· Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service to ensure the safety and maintenance of the fleet.

· Completes all maintenance forms and records.

·Is familiar with the practicesand procedures of preventive maintenance, the company Maintenance Program and shop safety.

· Employs test,measurement, and diagnostic equipment during troubleshooting procedures.

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

a. Perform diagnostics on electrical, powertrain, suspension, mechanical systems.

b.Assist in the removal, repairand replacement of brakes, air valves, alternators, fuel pumps, oil sending units/transducers, hoses,fuel lines, drive shafts, seats, and pneumatic doors.

c. Assist in servicing and repair suspension systemsand hydraulic systems.

d.Follow instructions and complete the workin a timely manner.

e.Working independently and in a team settingto accomplish tasks.
