Job summary

Gulf Coast Transit District is seeking a skilled mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on GCTD vehicles and equipment. The role requires inspecting, diagnosing, and maintaining heavy and light vehicles to ensure safe operation.

The incumbent will manage parts inventory, coordinate with vendors, and conduct road tests after service, while adhering to DOT and Texas regulations. A strong focus on safety and teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of equipment including gas- and diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
• Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, repair, and adjust various vehicle systems.
• Drive replacement vehicles to sites and coordinate wrecker services when needed.
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies and coordinate with vendors for quality/price.
• Maintain maintenance records, reports, and compliance with safety rules and regulations.
• Road-test vehicles after work and ensure repairs are completed correctly.
