Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Civic Mechanic to maintain the white fleet and school bus fleet, ensuring vehicles remain in excellent condition through repair and preventative maintenance.

The role requires five years of mechanic/technician experience, ability to perform both minor and major repairs, and proficiency with tools and diagnostic equipment. A clean driving record, physical, and DOT health card are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have five years experience as a Mechanic/Technician in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must possess the ability to perform minor and major repair on vehicles.
• Must possess the ability to use power tools, hand tools, electronic testing instruments, and hydraulics.
• Must possess an Arizona CDL license, Class B, passenger and air brake endorsement preferred.
• Must possess an excellent driving record.
• Must pass physical examination and possess a Department of Transportation health card.
• Must successfully pass a drug screen urinalysis, annually or as requested.
• Must possess the ability to push, pull, or lift weights in excess of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs light maintenance and repair to various diesel engines, a variety of gasoline engines; two and four stroke, alternate fuel engines, and various industrial diesel engines; includes Grounds Equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Performs light maintenance and repair on drive lines to include but not limited to Allison 500 and 600 series transmissions, suspension and steering components, differentials, clutch and other drive line equipment.
• Maintains air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Assists in keeping shop equipment and the bus shop facility clean and maintained.
• Performs troubleshooting of electrical components and the repairs of same; includes golf cart maintenance and repairs.
• Performs Preventative Maintenance on bus fleet and white fleet.
• Maintains on-line work order system and provides office support.
• Responds to off-site bus emergencies; including off-hours.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
