Job summary

ITU AbsorbTech is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to join our New Berlin, WI team. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gas and diesel fleet vehicles, including engines, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulic lift gates.

You will perform preventative maintenance, maintain records, and support drivers with training and safety compliance. Shifts are 8 hours, Monday through Friday, with some travel to Madison, Neenah, Wausau, and Elk Grove Village as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of fleet, diesel, or automotive maintenance experience.
• Technical degree in diesel or automotive technology, Class A CDL, and MIG/TIG welding experience preferred.
• Experience repairing commercial vehicles and working with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings and operate standard shop equipment and mechanic's tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair gas and diesel fleet vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulic lift gates, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections according to schedules.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain fleet vehicles for operational readiness.
• Complete emergency roadside service calls within the service area as needed.
• Install and replace vehicle decals and mechanical components, including motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
• Train new drivers and guide less experienced fleet staff.
• Operate snow removal equipment and de-ice during winter weather events.
• Ensure OSHA, DOT, and company safety requirements are followed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with a start time between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Schedule flexibility is required, including travel to other ITU AbsorbTech locations, such as Madison, WI; Neenah, WI; Wausau; and Elk Grove Village, IL, based on business needs.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5-years of fleet, diesel, or automotive maintenance experience required.
• Technical degree in diesel or automotive technology, Class A CDL, and MIG/TIG welding experience preferred.
• Experience repairing commercial vehicles and working with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings and operate standard shop equipment and mechanic's tools.
• Safe driving record required.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based maintenance systems.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid DOT Medical Card and provide personal hand tools.
