Job summary

Schneider is seeking a Fleet Manager in Chesapeake, VA to coach owner-operator truck drivers under contract and resolve business questions. The role focuses on contract compliance, safety, and operational standards while coordinating with drivers and internal teams.

Expect to lead business sessions, monitor Hours of Service compliance, and analyze issues to drive cost efficiency and better asset utilization. Full-time, on-site schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2 years of transportation experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid analytical skills.
• Able to take initiative.
• Able to understand how data drives technology.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate owner-operator business sessions.
• Ensure compliance with owner-operators' contracts.
• Administer operating standards concerning public safety and regulatory compliance within Schneider and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
• Manage the terminal’s safety and compliance by monitoring and improving processes related to Hours of Service regulations, inspections, retention and operating procedures.
• Oversee the cost, utilization and return on investment of company assets.
• Identify the root cause of service issues and discuss contractual compliance with owner-operators.
• Analyze various courses of action and make recommendations.
