What you’ll do
- Partner with Operations leadership with strategic goals and changing initiatives; lead local teams to improve overall member satisfaction (NPS) and additional business goals.
- Manage the process of in‑fleeting and de‑fleeting vehicles from beginning to end.
- Responsible for maintaining fleet costs in accordance with market budget.
- Negotiate and manage vendor service contracts and relationships to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, repaired and cleaned to Zipcar's high standard.
- Oversee payment for third‑party vendors and ensure invoices are coded appropriately via ORACLE.
- Work across Zipcar functional teams to support performance and process improvement.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of fleet management staff including performance management, succession planning, goal setting, development and input performance reviews.
- Coordinate the repair life cycle of our vehicles from the time they require repair to the time they go back on the grid for rent, working with ABG supply chain partners, third‑party maintenance vendors, shuttling companies, towing vendors, and impound recovery facilities.
- Update Zipcar’s platform (work management system) daily with ETA’s of when vehicles will be complete, any pertinent notes to the repair process, and close out the ticket loop once complete.
- Work with data to make informed decisions on repairs and vehicle lifecycle on a daily basis.

What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field required.
- 4–5 years of operations management or fleet management experience, preferably in rental car or car share.
- Prior experience working in operations for a complex fleet organization.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully while maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to identify staffing needs and to hire key employees.
- Experience tracking the success of operational improvement programs with an acute eye for sustainable, organization‑wide improvements.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record per company standards.
The annual starting salary for this position is between $65,000 and $75,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
