Job summary

Avis Budget Group is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead fleet operations across the region, overseeing the lifecycle of vehicles, vendor contracts, and a dedicated operations team. You will drive performance, manage repairs, and ensure cost-effective fleet management that supports an exceptional member experience.

The role requires 4–5 years in fleet/operations management, a bachelor’s degree, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required.
  • 4-5 years operations management or Fleet management experience (preferably in rental car / car share).
  • Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record (per company standards).
  • Experience tracking the success of operational improvement programs with an acute eye for sustainable, organization-wide improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations leadership to lead local teams and improve member satisfaction (NPS) and other business goals.
  • Manage the process of in-fleeting and de-fleeting vehicles from beginning to end.
  • Maintain fleet costs in accordance with market budget.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor service contracts to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, repaired, and cleaned to standard.
  • Oversee third-party vendor payments and ensure invoices are coded via ORACLE.
  • Collaborate across Zipcar teams to support performance and process improvements.
  • Hire, train, and develop fleet management staff with performance reviews.
  • Coordinate the repair life cycle of vehicles with ABG supply chain partners and vendors.
  • Update Zipcar’s platform daily with ETAs and repair notes, closing tickets when complete.
  • Use data to inform decisions on repairs and vehicle lifecycle daily.

As a Fleet Manager, you will run point as the leader of all fleet operations supporting the vehicle lifecycle in the region. This includes leading the Fleet Operations team, managing relationships with vendors and supply chain teams, and ensuring our vehicles are safe, clean, and able to deliver an exceptional experience for our members. - this will include increasing and decreasing fleet to meet demand, managing upkeep, the repair process maintenance of vehicles, and working towards listed KPIs for your respective roles.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the process of in-fleeting and de-fleeting vehicles from beginning to end.
  • Responsible for maintaining fleet costs in accordance to market budget.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor service contracts and relationships to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, repaired and cleaned to Zipcar's high standard.
  • Oversee payment for third party vendors, and ensure invoices are coded appropriately via ORACLE.
  • Work across Zipcar functional teams to support performance and process improvement.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of fleet management staff including but not limited to: performance management, succession planning, goal setting, development and input performance reviews.
  • Coordinating the repair life cycle of our vehicles from the time they require repair to the time they go back on the grid for rent. This includes working with ABG supply chain partners, third party maintenance vendors, third party shuttling companies, towing vendors, and impound recovery facilities
  • Updating Zipcar's platform (work management system) daily with ETAs of when vehicles will be complete, any pertinent notes to the repair process, and closing out the ticket loop once complete.
  • Work with data to make informed decisions on repairs and vehicle lifecycle on a daily basis

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required
  • 4-5 years operations management or Fleet management experience (preferably in rental car / car share)
  • Prior experience working in operations for a complex fleet organization
  • Can identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, while maintaining confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to identify staffing needs and to hire key employees
  • Experience tracking the success of operational improvement programs with an acute eye for sustainable, organization-wide improvements
  • Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record (per company standards)

The annual starting salary for this position is between $65,000 to $75,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
