The Fleet Manager, under general guidance of the Deputy Director of Public Works/Operations, manages and oversees the City's vehicle and heavy equipment fleet. Oversees central maintenance garage operations; coordinates the vehicle and equipment replacement program; and manages the Fleet Division. Assists user departments with questions, service coordination, scheduling, and customer service performance for internal and outsource repairs; and acquisition and disposition of vehicles/ equipment. As a representative of management, supports the mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and decisions of the department and the City.

Salary range: $78,249-$100,159

Job Scope:

Supervises, coordinates and prioritizes daily activities of direct reports. Participates in the preparation, administration and monitoring of the division's budget.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required in automotive science or related field.
  • Five (5) of experience in fleet repairs and management in a related field or equivalent combination.
  • Valid state Commercial Driver License and acceptable driving record required.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of general mechanics and management of a repair shop.
  • Skills in computer operations, quality control, typing, and safety practices.
  • Ability to guide, train, direct and motivate employees;
  • Ability to organize and supervise the activities of others;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and with suppliers or the public as needed.
