Job summary

The City of Lee’s Summit in Missouri is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead the vehicle and heavy equipment fleet, supervise the central maintenance garage, and coordinate the replacement program.

You will work with user departments, handle scheduling and customer service for repairs, and ensure safe, reliable operations in a municipal public works environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in automotive science or related field.
  • Five years of fleet repairs and management experience or equivalent combination.
  • Valid state CDL and acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to guide, train and supervise employees; strong communication skills.

Oversees central maintenance garage operations; coordinates the vehicle and equipment replacement program; and manages the Fleet Division. Assists user departments with questions, service coordination, scheduling, and customer service performance for internal and outsource repairs; and acquisition and disposition of vehicles/ equipment. As a representative of management, supports the mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and decisions of the department and the City.Salary range: $78,249-$100,159 **Job Scope:**Supervises, coordinates and prioritizes daily activities of direct reports. Participates in the preparation, administration and monitoring of the division’s budget. **Minimum Qualifications:*** Bachelor’s Degree required in automotive science or related field.* Five (5) of experience in fleet repairs and management in a related field or equivalent combination.* Valid state Commercial Driver License and acceptable driving record required. **Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Knowledge of general mechanics and management of a repair shop.* Skills in computer operations, quality control, typing, and safety practices.* Ability to guide, train, direct and motivate employees;* Ability to organize and supervise the activities of others;* Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and with suppliers or the public as needed.
