Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is seeking a qualified mechanic to maintain and repair City vehicles and equipment, including gasoline, CNG and diesel units. The role involves diagnosing issues, planning procedures, ordering parts, and coordinating with a team to keep fleet assets in safe, working condition.

Applicants should have a certificate or equivalent, two years of related experience, and a Texas Class B license with your own tools.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school; two years related experience and/or training.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and Class B certification.
• Must have own tools.
• PREFERRED: ASE certifications in Engine Repair and Electronics; or equivalent.
• Fire Fighting apparatus experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on City vehicles and equipment, including major brake repairs and engine/transmission overhauls.
• Inspect and diagnose problems, plan work, and determine parts needed; complete work orders.
• Coordinate work with team members and maintain tools and clean work area.
• Diagnose electrical wiring and install emergency equipment on police, fire, and City vehicles.
