Job description

Job Responsibilities and Requirements for Fleet Maintenance Technician

Perform a variety of functions on fleet vehicles and equipment according to company policy, regulations, repair manuals, factory specifications, schematics, and personal knowledge.

The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Available positions include: Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A, B, or C. The offered position depends on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Be at least 20 years old.
2. Possess a valid driver’s license and authorization to drive a company vehicle by the start date.
3. Be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
4. Lift a minimum of 65 pounds.
5. Read, write, and solve math problems.
6. Successfully complete required tests before starting, including Basic Office Skills, Following Written Instructions, Spatial Reasoning, and Mechanical Reasoning.
7. Interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
8. Generate and process work in a computerized maintenance management system.
9. Obtain an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Medium/Heavy Truck Certification.
10. Work independently with minimal supervision.
11. Maintain hand tools for daily duties.
12. Work well with others and be a team player.
13. Show enthusiasm, initiative, pride, and commitment to Publix’s mission.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Current Jacksonville Distribution associate preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• At least two years of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of ARC, MIG, and GAS welding and cutting techniques.
• Basic welding skills for aluminum and steel.
• Mechanical and diagnostic knowledge of fleet equipment, circuits, and operational sequences.
• One year of trade school or equivalent experience in medium/heavy duty trucks.
