Job summary
Duke Energy Corporation in the Charlotte, NC area seeks a Vehicle Maintenance Technician II to perform preventive maintenance, inspections and basic repairs on a wide range of utility vehicles and equipment, including generators, forklifts and cranes. Maintenance may occur in the garage or at field locations based on business needs.
The role requires an Associate degree or certificate in auto/diesel/heavy equipment mechanics or a high school diploma with related experience, plus a valid Class A
Qualifications
- Associates degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational program or equivalent.
- High school diploma plus three years of related work experience in lieu of degree.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections on light and medium vehicles/equipment and assists higher classifications with PMs.
- Performs required State emission inspections.
- Assists with Federal DOT inspections.
- Adheres to FMCSR for DOT inspections.
- Diagnoses and repairs on light/medium vehicles, gas and diesel forklifts, trailers and powered equipment.
- Maintains technical competence to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.
- Performs hydraulic brake system and component repairs.
- Assists with hydraulic component repairs.
- Assists with air brake system inspections and repairs.
- Assists higher classifications with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems.
