Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a maintenance shop, directing a technician team responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of trucks, containers, and heavy equipment. The role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with federal and state regulations.

The role requires leadership of technicians, planning and scheduling repairs, and maintaining inventory and budgets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• ASE certifications listed above are required or preferred depending on assignment.
• 3 years of experience in maintenance with heavy equipment.
• 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician or management role.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other federal/state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to lead technicians and ensure safe, efficient, timely repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Plan and schedule repair work; monitor performance and redirect activities as needed.
• Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and performance evaluations; coach and train staff.
• Oversee inventory control and approve expenses within approved budgets.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Perform quality control inspections and road tests as necessary.
