POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising, planning, prioritizing, assigning, and directing the work of the fleet division staff in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Administers a complete garage parts operation, cataloging, ordering, and maintaining inventory of automotive and equipment parts for the City garage. Writes service work orders for required maintenance of City vehicles and equipment.

Training and Experience:
Preferred an Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. Four years of progressively responsible experience in automotive, truck, and heavy equipment repair and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of fleet management standards, trends, and technological developments; principles of management, budgeting, and cost control; automotive repair shop management; safety regulations; supervisory principles; labor agreements; occupational hazards; and safety precautions. Excellent skills in public, employee, and labor relations; business practices related to fleet management; system analysis; computer utilization; financial record keeping; vehicle replacement policies; preventative maintenance programs; procurement; resource utilization; budget and project analysis; report writing; and inventory management. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and accounting software. Ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, read technical manuals, juggle priorities, work varied schedules, and supervise others.
